Best Carpenter Websites UK: What the Winners Actually Do (2026)

From our study of which carpenters Google and Gemini recommend across UK cities: what winning carpentry and joinery websites do differently, with a checklist to copy.

Carpentry is the most portfolio-driven trade there is — and yet most carpenters' websites, where they exist at all, bury their best work in an unlabelled gallery or leave it on a phone. In our study of which carpenters Google and Gemini recommend across UK cities, the businesses that surfaced — Manchester Carpentry, Brownhirst Joinery, AB Carpenters and others — treat the website as a shop window with a filing system. Here is the pattern.

The checklist

1. Work organised by what customers search for. Fitted wardrobes. Bespoke alcove units. Kitchen fitting. Doors and skirting. Garden structures. Each with its own page, its own photos, and its own plain description — because "carpenter" is not what people search; the job is. Sites structured this way surface for ten times the queries of a one-page portfolio.

2. Photos that carry information. The winning sites caption their work: the job, the material, the town. A captioned photo of custom wardrobes in Didsbury is search content and AI-verifiable evidence; an uncaptioned image is decoration.

3. A clear line between carpentry and joinery. Customers use the words interchangeably; search engines don't. Sites that explain and cover both — bench joinery, site carpentry, bespoke furniture — capture both search populations.

4. Named craftsman, real story. Carpentry buyers choose a person more than a company. The sites that convert carry a name, a face or at least a history, years at the bench, and the kind of work they love — the exact trust signals review platforms can't fake.

5. Reviews attached to a consistent name. Same rule as every trade in our studies: the businesses AI and the local pack surface resolve cleanly to one name with an attached review history. Split identities — different trading names across site, profile and directories — split your proof.

6. Per-area pages for the towns you serve. Even craft trades win locally. One genuine page per area, referencing real completed work there.

7. Schema and answered questions. How much do fitted wardrobes cost. MDF or plywood. How long does a kitchen fit take. Answer them on-page with FAQPage and Service schema underneath, and your site becomes the source AI assistants quote when your next customer asks the same thing.
